body butter

For the first time, Body Butter is available in the Etsy store! This sumptuous body butter will leave your skin wholly moisturized with the most heavenly scent! Naturally beautifying your skin with the highest quality of organic coconut oil, cocoa butter, and essential oils, this body butter can also be used as a make-up remover and deodorant.

That's right, I use this butter to remove eye make-up as well as in place of traditional deodorant. Please note that this will not work as an anti-perspirant. Also, due to the nature of Coconut Oil, body butter will become more solid in cooler temperatures, but melts quickly when applied to skin. This time of year (at my house) the body butter is a wonderfully light consistency, somewhere between pancake batter and cookie dough.

Ingredients include: Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Vanilla in Jojoba Oil, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, and Sweet Orange Essential Oil. And while the butter body smells (and probably tastes) delicious, it is not intended to be eaten. All ingredients are Organic, Fair-trade, Vegan, and Kosher, where applicable.

11 foods for younger skin

Prevention Magazine recently published this article on 11 foods that promote younger looking skin. They include: romaine lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries, apples, soy, eggs, almonds, walnuts, cocoa made from dark chocolate, extra-virgin olive oil, and whole gains. I regularly eat most of these foods with the exception of soy and walnuts.

My skepticism of soy stems from the phytoestrogens, but this article details even more reasons not to include soy in your diet, namely that 90% of U.S. soy is GMO. So I will probably not start eating more soy than the occasional stir-fry or tempeh. But walnuts seem to have a much more positive influence on health. In addition to Omega-3, walnuts contain melatonin, a hormone needed to regulate sleep.

detox from the inside-out

What we put in our bodies is as important as what we put on our bodies. And good news, gorgeous skin is just a sip away. I came across this article about great teas to give your skin a healthy boost. Many of these highly touted ingredients such as Dandelion, Burdock, Vitamin C, Aloe Vera, and a host of antioxidants are also available in a daily supplement I use called Raw Reserve. No matter your method, happy skin detoxing!

And don't forget about our wonderful skin products, more on the way!

cheers to health and a natural glow!

I’m on a mission to live the healthiest, purest, cleanest life possible. This awareness applies not just to what I put in my body (whole, pescatarian, plant-centered) but also to what I put on my body. Just as I don’t trust processed and packaged foods with ingredients I don’t recognize or understand, I no longer want to lather on lotion with a list of unintelligible components, many of which have been shown to be toxic and carcinogenic.

Dealing with the cancer diagnosis of a most loved one is enough of a reason to re-evaluate one’s diet and overall healthfulness. When my dog also became a cancer patient a few months later, I began to worry about what chemicals and additives in my daily regimen he may have been ingesting just by licking my skin.

Hello! Those same chemicals were being absorbed through my skin, into my blood, everyday. I’m done with chemicals, additives, unnatural colors and fragrance. And in an effort to know exactly what is in my bath and beauty products I am embarking on a new adventure, making my own.

I have started an Etsy shop with my mom (cancer survivor) and sister. We look forward to sharing these all-natural body products with everyone. And while they are in fact edible, please use our scrubs and body butters on your skin only. Cheers to good health and glowing, inside and out!
